Noah Dorr is an American contemporary artist whose practice spans several disciplines including fine art, public art, and graphic design.
American pop culture captured Dorr’s attention from a young age, and integrating them into his work is central to his craft. A fine sensitivity to the images, figures, and sounds of American media is conveyed in his compositions. The cultural symbols of our contemporary physical and digital environment are Dorr’s primary material, and he searches for humor in the visual juxtaposition of products, memories, and environments.
Central to his current work is an examination of the American West. Born in Portland, Oregon, Dorr’s fascination with the American West stemmed from a childhood isolated from the primary source, instead absorbing the mythology of the West through media. Moving to Texas in his early 20s directed Dorr’s work towards an exploration of the strange legacy of his new home.
